Nautical Rope Spool DIY

Soon, I will be redecorating my daughters room.  She wants a nautical look, beachy with shells etc...  While wondering around Lowe's and Home Depot which are my new crafty stomping grounds lately, I saw the rope pictured above and thought boats and what can I make with this for her room.  A nautical rope coiled spool was it!!  

Here's how I made it 

Super simple supplies: 2 round wooden circles from Michael's/JoAnn's

empty cylinder ~  I used an oatmeal container

Craft paper scrap to cover the container

Hot glue gun

Minwax walnut stain

 

Wrap the cylinder in paper and hot glue or tape on

 

Stain your wood pieces, my color was Walnut

I did not photograph this part but I traced the cylinder on the wood piece and ran a thick ring of hot glue around the pencil line and then quickly placed the cylinder on the hot glue ring and then repeated this for the opposite side.

Then I cut the melted/taped end of the rope and it immediately started to unravel but I need it to be flat to start the coil process.  I started at the bottom, again, with a big glop of glue and secured the end and glued a few inches and then pressed the rope along the glue line around and around and around............to the top.

And there ya have it a nautical spool!

Homemade Dog Food - recipes and more

Recommended Carnivore Ingredients

Remember your dog is primarily a carnivore and this means his digestive system is designed to digest meat, bones and animal fat.

• Chicken (I like to feed the leg thigh quarters. The cuts of chicken have a good amount of meat, bones, cartilage and fat. The thighs and legs are also cheaper)
• Beef (I recommend shopping the closeout section in your grocery store for anything that fits your budget.)
• Ground Beef (I always choose the ground beef with the higher fat content, 70/30. Dogs metabolize fat well and beef fat is good for dogs.)
• Hardboiled Eggs ( Eggs are very nutrias for dogs and contain highly digestible fats and protein. Hard boiling the eggs deactivates the enzyme in egg whites that interferes with B vitamin absorption.)
• White Rice (I do feed some cooked white rice in many of the recipes to help make it affordable and it also is a good medium for nutritional supplements)
• Nutritional Supplements ( It is crucial to add supplements to all theses diets to supply needed vitamins, trace minerals and other essential nutrients.) I make the dog supplements “Dinovite“and “Lickochops” and recommend using them both to fill in the nutritional gaps in the recipes.

Mason Jar Planter - DIY

I'm thrilled at how this project turned out!  I saw the planter on Shanty 2 Chic's blog and I knew this was a DIY I was going to make right away.  All the directions - measurements and details are here.  Whitney and Ashley are amazing and have so so so many doable projects.  Two others on my list are the casserole tray and the magazine tray.

The box was given to a friend for her birthday - jars and flowers included.
